Back When It All Began...

This is the song that started it all for me. This may have been the first song Big Bear ever played for me and it may be the best as well. Please do yourself a favor and take a listen thru the entire song. I guarantee you'll be dancing by the end.

Puree

Although I do not do cocaine nor do i recommend anyone else do it, I do recommend listening to this song. I like the tempo of this song, Its the opposite of cocaine, it relaxes me and makes me appreciate everyone i have in my life, and all the people I know struggling with addiction as odd as that may seem.

Dont F**k With His Kitchen

This is a hit in the south and after listening to it a bunch of times I have a newfound appreciation for Gucci Mane and Southern Rap as a whole. Check this guy out and remember if u ever see gucci in the kitchen turn around and go the other way, he doesn't like it when you fuck with his kitchen.

best remix

There's about a million remixes of this song, but in my opinion, this one takes the cake. La Roux is a band made up of singer Eleanor Jackson and synth player, co-writer, and co-producer Ben Langmaid. Jackson has a bomb voice and the remix gives it more of a dance feel, especially since the original is kind of slow. Louis Phillipe DnB is nobody (at least from what I've researched), but I hope that I hear more from him. ENJOY

One for the Holidays

Here's a track in the holiday mood. And dont think we've gone soft, cuz it's Ludacris. Personally, I think Luda is great. There are too many rappers today that take themselves too seriously and act real hard. Ludacris has been around the block and been around for years and he still knows how to joke around once in a while. I know you all can remember "Roll out" and "What's Your Fantasy" from back in middle school, but this one's a slight change of pace. Taken from the "Fred Claus" soundtrack, here's one you can play for your family at christmas time to get a different look out of em. Keep it fresh and snowy this season. And if you like snowboarding like I do, hit the slopes while the snows around. ENJOY

This is the first video that i came across today and it is a funny one. It reminds me of Jimmy Fallon's, "idiot boyfriend." I like the music videos that make you laugh. I have a couple more funny videos up my sleeve but you will have to follow us to see them.
Enjoy your saturday, Carpe Diem.

My Beat Beat Beat Beat....

Here's an awesome song that Big Bear played for me once. I was immediately taken by the MGMT-like melody and killer beat. Where it all comes together is the deep monologue mid-way through with the accompanied beat. I highly recommend a listen-thru at least twice. I guarantee you'll love it. And I guarantee you'll play it at every party from now on and everyone else will love it too. best. Download here

Ghost Faction

Every morning I wake up to the sound of a deep bass coming through the ceiling. Depending on my dreams that night, I sometimes wonder if I accidentally passed out backstage at a rap concert. Then I realize it's just Sam (above). Sam is 21 and lives in the apartment above us in beautiful Boston, MA. Sam lives with his girlfriend, Sta, and goes to school. If there's one thing Sam knows, it's good Hip-Hop.

Now, I don't normally like to be woken up anytime before 1pm (or my natural awakening, whichever comes first), but for some reason, when i wake up to Sam's choice beats, I am unriled and unannoyed. What I hear through the hardwood is fantastic, and what he brings down to play for us is even better.
Sam, being the global entrepeneuer such as Big Bear and myself, started a blog some time ago. It is a tasteful and insightful glance at what's what in rap today. For those of you who are big into rap (and understand that we don't supply a lot of it here), I sincerely suggest you check out his page: www.ghostfaction.com. The illest hip-hop commentary on the east cost. Enjoy.

New Kanye

My friend showed me this new Kanye track earlier today and I'm glad he did because this is fire. Although i think Kanye is full of himself, I do think he is one of the most talented rappers in the game. Throwing Santogold in any song also couldn't hurt. Enjoy some new Yeezy.

Better Beets

I appreciate your opinion, Bear, but this is clearly a finer track. Bloody Beetroots have a natural ability to make people dance and go nuts. This choice cut from the 'roots has one of the best climactic builds I've heard from club music and one of the tightest party videos to go with it.
To get an idea of what mine and Big Bear's NIghtClub will look like one day, watch the video and dance to the beat. (warning: dont watch if you get easily motion-sick)

Beets

This is one of my favorite Bloody Beetroots songs, even though Tuna disagrees. The Bloody Beetroots are an electronica and dance music duo from Vicenza, Italy. Formed in late 2006 by producer Bob Rifo, an international indie producer, and DJ Tommy Tea. The duo wear Venom masks while performing. I would like to see what Tuna has as his favorite.

YES, Please

This is a piece I had to write a 10 page paper on, but don't take that the wrong way. Before I joined the class, this was already in my top 10 favorite jams of all time. Listen to it and see if you get the same thing out of it.

Try to look past the high register male voice and the length of the track and just enjoy the pure sonic pleasure. I recommend listening to it either in nice over-ear headphones or an extremely nice speaker system to get the full experience.

NAZI'S SUCK

If you havent yet seen the film, I suggest you do. Tarantino had me hook, line, and sinker when I first saw Pulp Fiction at age 15. It's 2010, I'm 20, and he's still at it, making films better than ever (and more violence too).

It was filmed in several locations including Germany and France beginning in October 2008, and tells the story of two plots to assassinate the Nazi political leadership, one planned by a young French Jewish cinema proprietress, the other by a team of American soldiers called the "Basterds".

Sounds kinda boring when you take it from Wikipedia, so take it from me and go check out this movie. Mad props to Brad Pitt (though he has yet to beat his performances in
Snatch and Burn After Reading) who has entertained me through every movie I've seen of his. It may not be as mind-screwing as Fight Club, but Inglorious Basterds sure as hell has the ingenuity and action. Definitely a Blockbuster and one for the books. Do yourself a favor and take the 2 n 1/2 hours and check this sure-to-be classic.

This is a really cool video where DJ Revolution squares off against a machine. it really shows how good Rev is, he kills it on this video, you should check it out

Art With Roach Paper

This photo is ridiculous, Cris Maynard is a Genius, and a big stoner apparently, He makes portraits of celebrities out or roach papers. He must smoke a hell of a lot of spliffs/joints. Check out his myspace for more pictures.

STAT'S SELECTION

Here it is guys, the Stat Selection. Stat is one of our boys who loves rap/Hip Hop. Especially gangster rap. Each week we will be coming out with a new Stat Selection so sit back and enjpy some of the best lyricists in the rap game.

1) Mobb Deep - Shook Ones Part II

New Old Gold

If you like trippy videos and appreciate classics, this one's for you. Big bear showed me this and I didn't know what to think at first, but now I love it. It's a remix and video of a 60's classic tune by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. For those of you who don't recognize the name, The Four Seasons were a somewhat "new wave doo-wop"/soul group with some major hits like "Sherry", 'Big Girls dont Cry", and "Let's Hang On!" They were inducted into the Rock'n'roll Hall of Fame in 1990 and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame has stated that they were the most popular white rock band before the Beatles.
This, however, is a remix by Pilooski and probably not what Frankie and the Seasons intended the song to be originally. Nonetheless, this song is bomb and an awesome interpretation of one of the most soulful songs in history.

A Bite of Advice...

Introduced to me by my brother and roommate, Matty Jesus. Originally an article in the Chicago Tribune titled "Advice, like youth, probably just wasted on the young" written by Mary Shmich. It was redone into a musical number by Baz Luhrmann. Within a year it was already on all music charts across America even though you might not consider it a song. Some great advice in this track so listen up. And always remember to wear sunscreen....

Peace Through Music

This video is amazing. The people in this video are beautiful in their own way. Through music i believe we can attain peace. Playing for Change is a multimedia music project created by producer and sound engineer Mark Johnson with his Timeless Media Group, that seeks to bring together musicians from around the world. Playing For Change also created a separate non-profit organization called the Playing For Change Foundation which builds music schools for children around the world.

No Sex In the Champagne Room

HAHA Chris rock is a funny guy.

Alice - Pogo
My boy K-money showed me this. Its so creative, everysound you hear is from Alice and wonderland. Pogo is an emerging electronic music artist in Perth, Western Australia. He is known for his work recording small sounds from a single film and making music out of them. Thanks K-mo.

Xaphoon's Masterpiece

I Wanna Know Now - Xaphoon Jones Remix
This is an amazing mash-up by Xaphoon Jones, producer from the group Chiddy Bang, a sick group outta Tuna's home-turf, Philly. This song does it all for me, from putting a smile on my face to making me dance. Bob Marley brings you the good vibrations and MGMT brings the groovy beats Enjoy.

He Ain't Even on Yet

GlC - I Ain't Even On Yet

This is one of those songs that I would like to make my theme song. Sometime I play this beat when I'm walking arond campus, it puts me in a good mood. Other times I just wanna sit back roll an L and chill on it with my homies. The flow he has is so smooth and consistent. The beginning of the song is dope too when they are drawing him with the sharpie. Keep your eyes open for GLC because he on the rise.

Another Gem from Fedde

Here's another one from our boy Fedde Le. This one will help relieve some stress hopefully. Like stress from when you're forced to take an 8am Economics final exam and the two-bit, empty headed, english-as-a-fourth-language professor decides not to stroll in until 9, but still gives the test and tries to act like she didn't just roll in an hour late...

In my opinion, one of the greatest music videos ever created. Fedde is a genius when it comes to making beats and videos that mesh perfectly. He seems to the same dude in a lot of his videos
, (Spanish dance student Arran García), What a job....
This picture comes from my friend Anna. She is an amazing photographer and person studying at RISD. I met Anna through her boyfriend Teddy a close friend of mine and she is a wonderful person, her photos are sick too. Check out some more of Anna's pictures, I guarantee you will like them
One of the coolest pictures I've come across...

"You've Got the Love (The XX remix)" Florence + the machine
Whether the original is any good or not, this remix/cover blows it away. Props to Florence + the machine for writing a kickass jam, but XX steals the show in this one. If you haven't checked out this track, i highly recommend it. It has been a favorite here at 774, and I guarantee it will be a favorite of anyone who tunes in. Chill beat, great vocals and a bomb mixing job. Here's one for the books...

Dizzee Rascal & Armand Van Helden - Bonkers

This song/music video is "Bonkers." Dizzee Rascal, Born Dylan Mills, is one of my favorite british rappers and him and Armand kill this song. The video is sick too. All around a great project.
